If you want to get out into the city for breakfast, El Cafe in Old Havana serves the best breakfast in Havana, a perfect place to start your day. But you need to know where it is to find it!
In Havana Vieja, in a small street through a small door with no signs or posters or anything you will find one of the loveliest little cafes serving amazing breakfasts or lunches every day.
El Café managed to stay open even in corona-times and is now back in business full time. How I missed this place during the lockdown!
El Cafe Breakfast In Old Havana
I visited this café for the first time in the spring of 2019 and it became my favorite and regular breakfast and coffee place. El Cafe is a paladar, which means it is a private enterprise in Cuba that is becoming more common.
I was really happy to see that they have managed to stay open (with take-away) despite the overwhelming lack of tourists in 2020!
The staff at El Cafe are always smiling and attentive, providing great service and of course tasty sandwiches, salads, or small dishes for breakfast or lunch.
Delicious fresh juices made while you wait
It is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee or fresh juice break. As it is situated on this small street, there are not a lot of cars or noise outside, making El Cafe a tranquil oasis in the upper part of Old Havana.
There is a variety of hot and cold drinks available, and I recommend you try one of the freshly pressed juices. With a variety of tropical fruits to choose your juice from they are an absolutely tasty, colorful, and healthy treat!
My personal breakfast favorite is a plate of scrambled eggs, tomato, cheese, ham, and avocado with toasted bread on the side, delicious!
A luxury treat in Cuba. Along with a café Americano and a big fresh pineapple juice, I am ready to start my day.
Absolutely worth a visit when you are walking the streets of Old Havana!
